FSVP 1.5 Day Live-Virtual Course FAQ

Who needs to take this course.

U.S.‐based importers who meet the definition of “importer” in the FSVP rule, which includes those who own or are the consignee of food at the time of entry, or, if no owner or consignee exists, the U.S. agent or representative of the foreign owner. Others who have an interest in ensuring that the requirements of the FSVP rule are met, including brokers, exporters, foreign suppliers of food that will be exported to the U.S., persons/business owners who currently buy food from foreign sources, and representatives of foreign governments.

I own a Restaurant chain in the U.S and I'm importing ingredients, do I need to take this course.

Yes, you will need to comply with the FSVP Requirements for imported food products. This course will help you identify what is needed in your FSVP, and provide you with the tools to do so. 

I am a foreign supplier to the United States. Should I take this course.

Taking this course would benefit foreign suppliers, particularly if you need to assist importers with complying with the regulations. You will understand what will be expected.

What will I learn by taking this course.

This course will provide participants with the knowledge to implement the requirements of the FSVP regulation. Including:

  • Determining known or reasonably foreseeable hazards with each food imported

  • Evaluating the risk posed by the food (based on a hazard analysis and foreign supplier’s performance)

  • Using that evaluation to approve suppliers

  • Conducting supplier verification activities

  • Maintaining documents that are required to demonstrate compliance with the regulation

Are there any system requirements for attending the online course.
